Peter Coyote Plays Robert Mueller For Cbs

Veteran actor Peter Coyote has boarded the untitled James Comey CBS Studios mini-series playing the key role of former FBI Director Robert Mueller.

The mini-series is based on Comey’s book “A Higher Loyalty” about his tenure as FBI director from 2013-2017 and covered his role in helping to change the Bush administration’s policies on torture and electronic surveillance to overseeing the Hillary Clinton email investigation and potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Much of the mini-series will deal with Comey (Jeff Daniels) and his strained relationship with and eventual firing by President Trump (Brendan Gleeson). Mueller, who served as FBI director from 2001-2013, was appointed to lead an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and his report in April ended in the controversial decision not to charge Trump with obstruction of justice.

Michael Kelly and Jennifer Ehle co-star in the limited series which “Shattered Glass” and “Captain Phillips” scribe Billy Ray adapted and is directing. Alex Kurtzman, Shane Salerno and Heather Kadin executive produce and shooting begins next month.
