Perry, Liman Team on Apartheid Film “Storm”

Filmmaker Doug Liman and actor/director Tyler Perry are teaming to create the racially charged murder tale “The Year of the Great Storm” which is set during the height of Apartheid in South Africa.

The true story tale follows Amy Biehl, an American Fulbright scholar who was living in South Africa during the darkest days of the struggle against Apartheid.

Following her being stabbed to death by a mob of black youths in 1993, her American parents decided to attend the trial of her daughter’s killers and remained to begin a grassroots effort to bring about change in the movement.

Karzan Kader (“Bekas”) is helming from a script by Johanna Baldwin while Tyler Perry, Ozzie Areu and Matt Moore will produce.
