Perkins Ditches “Weeds” For “I Hop”

Elizabeth Perkins is leaving acclaimed Showtime series “Weeds” after five years says The Hollywood Reporter.

She won’t be out of work for long though, the actress has signed on to play a mother figure in the live-action/CG-animated hybrid comedy “I Hop” for Illumination Entertainment and Universal.

James Marsden stars as an unemployed slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny (voiced by Russell Brand) and must take him in as he recovers.

As Fred struggles with the world’s worst houseguest, both will learn what it takes to finally grow up. Perkins will play Marsden’s exasperated mother.

Tim Hill directs and an April 1st 2011 release date has been set. Perkins is also developing a comedy series in which she will star.
