Penthouse founder Bob Guccione’s rise and fall is set to become the subject of a new television series from Jerrick Media and Maven Pictures.
Guccione was both a pornographer and intellectual – not only producing the famed nudie mag but also Omni magazine and being an investor in early attempts by scientists to achieve cold fusion. He also famously backed the infamous film “Caligula” and helped famed Vogue editor Anna Wintour score one of her earliest jobs.
The series will be told through the eyes of the women in Guccione’s life, charting his years as a struggling artist and cartoonist in London through the creation of Penthouse to his final years during which he had to file for bankruptcy.
Writers are currently being sought for the project. Rick Schwartz, Jeremy Frommer, Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray will executive produce the series which is aiming for a cable or streaming bow as it will feature plenty of nudity and sex.
