“Penny Dreadful” Creator Joins Abrams’ “Nix”

“Penny Dreadful” creator and “Skyfall” scribe John Logan has been announced as the show runner for the new Meryl Streep-led drama series “The Nix” at Warner Bros. Television.

The story centers on college professor and stalled writer Samuel Andresen-Anderson, who hasn’t seen his mother, Faye, since childhood when she walked out of his life. Now she has reappeared, having committed an absurd crime that inflames a politically divided country.

To save her, Samuel will have to embark on his own journey, from the suburban Midwest to New York City to the 1968 Chicago riots, uncovering long-buried secrets about the woman he thought he knew and that stretch across generations to Norway and the home of the mysterious Nix.

J.J. Abrams is producing the series based on a 2016 novel by Nathan Hill. Abrams and Hill will executive produce the project which is being developed as a limited series with no network currently attached.
