Peirce To Direct “Carrie” Remake

Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry,” “Stop Loss”) has entered talks to direct a new film adaptation of Stephen King’s first novel “Carrie” at MGM says Deadline.

The story follows a tormented young girl in school who uses her telekinetic powers to get revenge on those who picked on her.

Playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is adapting the script which is said to be both more faithful and more realistic than Brian De Palma’s previous 1976 version which starred Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie in Oscar nominated performances.
