Former Aussie soap “Neighbours” co-stars Guy Pearce and Kylie Minogue were drawing much attention on the Gold Coast in Australia this week as they shot a beach scene for “Priscilla” director Stephan Elliot’s new period coming of age comedy “Flammable Children”.
Actors Julian McMahon (“Fantastic Four”), Radha Mitchell (“Silent Hill”), Jeremy Sims (“Ruben Guthrie”) and Asher Keddie (“Offspring”) were also on hand for the scenes featuring wild floral shirts, a large penis prosthetic and period appropriate hair. The story is set in 1975 and follows a teenager coming of age in the Aussie beachside suburb of Nobbys Beach (said to be inspired by the real life Sydney suburb of Dee Why) – a place of boxed wine, baby oil and the new miracle that is Kentucky Fried Chicken.
As a two-hundred ton blue whale gets washed up on a local beach and brings media attention, his eccentric parents are catching up with the sexual revolution and things are all about to go spectacularly wrong. More photos can be found at DListed.
