Despite the passing of actor Paul Walker, Pantelion Films and Lionsgate are still planning to go ahead with the release of “Hours” as planned on December 13th.
Set to open in select U.S. cities and on Video on Demand, the Hurricane Katrina-themed drama sees Walker playing a man whose wife (Genesis Rodriguez) has just died after giving birth to their child.
The critically ill baby cannot be moved elsewhere, and this newly single father struggles to keep him alive when the storm hits the hospital. Walker also co-produced the film.
Pantelion’s CEO Paul Presburger says: “After lots of back and forth, this is our decision. It’s Paul’s tour de force. He’s in every frame of the movie.”
Fellow co-producer Peter Safran says: “Paul would have very much wanted us to move forward. He was incredibly proud of this project. We did a press junket two weeks ago, and I remember sitting with him and how excited he was for people to see this movie. He really looked to this movie to show people that he is an actor.”
