“There Will Be Blood” and “Magnolia” director Paul Thomas Anderson has found a big fan in the form of a billionaire.
Megan Ellison, the 25-year-old daughter of American business magnate and Oracle boss Larry Ellison, might provide financial support for Anderson’s two, still unproduced projects reports Vulture.
One is his untitled Scientology project known as “The Master” in fan circles that Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jeremy Renner have been linked to.
The other is “Inherent Vice,” an adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s 2009 stoner detective novel. Robert Downey Jr. had previously been linked to the lead role in this which Anderson is currently at work on his second draft of (he frequently consulted Pynchon about the project).
it’s unclear which film would go in front of cameras first, but one could be shooting by sometime this year. Ellison is also apparently one of the co-financiers of John Hillcoat’s “The Wettest County In The World”.
