It has been revealed that “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins played a hand in the casting of Christopher Plummer to replace Kevin Spacey on Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World”.
When Scott decided to erase Spacey, producers were trying to figure out how to keep the casting of a new J. Paul Getty secret. Screenwriter David Scarpa tells THR they got help for Jenkins who sent out the call under the guise of the role being for her new TNT limited drama series “One Day She’ll Darken”:
“Ridley’s casting agents basically asked if they could send the call out for the part under their production’s name. So basically it was, ‘Patty Jenkins is looking for a 90-year-old guy.’ That was basically how they were able to do it. There was a lot of this sort of … crafty maneuvers in order to make this thing come off.”
The recasting and reshoots paid off as reviews for the film, and for Plummer’s performance in particular, are strong. Check out a new trailer below for the film, which opens Christmas Day.
