Comedian Patton Oswalt (“Ratatoulle,” “United States of Tara”) has joined the cast of Stephen Sommers’ adaptation of Dean Koontz’s bestselling novel “Odd Thomas” for Fusion Films reports Variety.
The story follows Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin), an optimistic twenty-year-old short-order cook who can see both dead people and the shadowy figures called ‘bodachs’ that appear around death and disaster. When bodachs seem to be swarming around a diner customer he nicknames ‘Fungus Man’, Odd is convinced the man is connected to a terrible catastrophe about to occur.
Oswalt will play Oswald “Ozzie” P. Boone, an eccentric artist who designs sculptures, including a steel pendant that the titular clairvoyant hero wears around his neck.
Willem Dafoe, Addison Timlin and Nico Tortorella are also in talks to join the cast. Shooting kicks off next month in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
