Steven Pasquale and Lauren Ambrose are set to lead Tony and Ridley Scott’s “Coma” miniseries for A&E says The Live Feed.
Based on the medical thriller novel by Robin Cook, the story follows a doctor who begins to suspect that something is amiss when healthy patients begin to fall into comas. Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, James Woods, Geena Davis, James Rebhorn, Joe Morton and Joseph Mazello also star.
Author Michael Crichton previously directed a 1978 film adaptation which starred Michael Douglas and Genevieve Bujold. This marks the second time the Scotts and A&E have remade a classic Crichton work, the first being the generally panned 2008 miniseries adaptation of his early novel “The Andromeda Strain”.
Shooting will kick off shortly in Atlanta with the two-night, four-hour miniseries set to air Memorial Day 2012.
