Brandon Larracuente (“13 Reasons Why”), Emily Tosta (“Mayans MC”), Niko Guardado (“The Goldbergs”) and Elle Paris Legaspi (“To My Family”) have been cast as the leads in the upcoming reimagining of the classic series “Party of Five” for Freeform and Sony Pictures Television Studios.
The quartet will respectively play the Buendía siblings – Emilio, Lucia, Beto and Valentina. In the series, the siblings struggle to survive as a family after their parents are deported to Mexico.
Emilio Buendía is an aspiring musician and the oldest son. Lucia Buendía is a straight-A student with lofty college ambitions until her parents run into trouble. Beto is the second oldest brother who steps up in the midst of turmoil. Valentina is the precocious and resourceful youngest sister desperately afraid of what the future holds.
The new series hails from original creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman who will serve as writers and executive producers. Michal Zebede will write and co-executive produce. Rodrigo Garcia is set to direct and also executive produce. Sony Pictures Television Studios will produce.
