Parks, Johnson To Adapt “Native Son”

Bow and Arrow Entertainment have acquired Richard Wright’s classic 1940 novel “Native Son” with plans for a feature film adaptation.

The story follows Bigger Thomas, a 20-year-old African-American man growing up in poverty on the South Side of Chicago.

Suzan-Lori Parks, the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for drama, will adapt the script while acclaimed artist and photographer Rashid Johnson will make his feature directorial debut on the project.

Matthew Perniciaro and Michael Sherman will produce.
