Paramount Sets Up Three New Projects

Paramount Pictures has been keeping busy with three new projects in development. First up, they’ve acquired film rights to the Ted Bell-penned espionage novel series “Alex Hawke” based on British MI6 agent Sir Alexander Hawke.

Kurt Wimmer (“Salt”) is set to adapt the script with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing. Spanning nine novels so far, the series also boasts real life Russian leader Vladimir Putin as a frequent nemesis in the series.

Next up, they’re teaming with Platinum Dunes to pick up Alex R. Johnson’s spec script “Northeast Kingdom”. Johnson (“Two Step”) is also attached to direct. The story line is being kept under wraps on this one, but we hear that it’s a female two-hander revenge thriller.

Finally, Paramount is in negotiations to acquire an untitled pitch with Platinum Dunes producing and “Saw IV” scribes Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan writing.

Michael Chaves (“The Maiden” short) is attached to direct. The story is described as a supernatural horror-thriller that takes place on a global scale.
