Paramount Pictures has begun to make public its ambitious plans for the “Transformers” franchise with word today of release dates for three more sequels in the series to be released annually starting next Summer.
“Transformers 5,” featuring a script by Ken Nolan (“Black Hawk Down”), Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (“Iron Man”), is targeting a June 23rd 2017 release. Michael Bay will return as director, and Mark Wahlberg has also confirmed he will return.
Someone else is taking over the director’s chair after Bay, and whomever it is will likely be announced long before T5 hits cinemas as the studio has locked down June 8th 2018 and June 28th 2019 release dates for a sixth and seventh film in the series.
Details on both of these films have not been confirmed. The only other film confirmed to be in-development in the franchise at this point is an animated ‘origin’ film set around the Transformers homeworld of Cybertron.
