Paramount Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are teaming up to produce a biopic about rapper and trap music forefather Gucci Mane.
Mane, a prolific Atlanta artist, is credited as the pioneer of Southern subgenre and made his studio album debut in 2005 with “Trap House”. Born in poverty-stricken Alabama and falling into a life of selling dope and gang violence in Atlanta, a prison sentence led him to discovering music could save him.
The studio has retained the life rights to Mane, whose real name is Radric Delantic Davis, as well as the movie rights to his autobiography. Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins will produce while Mane, Todd Moskowitz and Erica Huggins will executive produce.
