Paramount Pictures has moved the Jennifer Lawrence-led, Darren Aronofsky-directed thriller “Mother!” up by a month.
As a result, the film will now open September 15th as opposed to October 13th as previously stated. This would also imply that if it gets a festival bow at either Venice or Toronto, it will hit cinemas within two weeks if not a few days of first reviews coming out.
Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kristin Wiig, Domnhall Gleeson, and Ed Harris also star in the film about a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.
So far an elaborately illustrated poster is the only thing to have been widely released from the film. No stills are out, and while there is a trailer out there it is only playing on select copies of “Dunkirk” in a few countries.
With the new date, the film’s main rival will be the Michael Keaton and Dylan O’Brien-led “American Assassin” along with the opening of “IT” the week before. The project is Aronofsky’s first since 2014’s “Noah”.
