Paramount Pictures looks to have opted out of proceeding with a sequel to comedy hit “Anchorman”.
The other day it was reported that the first film’s director Adam McKay and the various stars were all for doing a sequel that could shoot as early as February. However they couldn’t proceed without a decision from Paramount to finance and green light the film.
Well it seems that decision has been made in the negative. McKay revealed on his Twitter today the following message: “So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.”
So much for that it would seem. Those hoping they could do it elsewhere, McKay quickly nixed that dream as well – “To all who asked: no we can’t do Anchorman 2 at another studio. Paramount owns it.”
