Following on from Tom Cruise’s comments a few days ago, Paramount Pictures vice chairman Rob Moore has confirmed the recent announcement that a sixth film in the “Mission: Impossible” series is in the works.
Moore tells Variety: “We’re very happy to be developing this movie with Tom. There’s no question that Ethan Hunt deserves another film… The international brand is as strong as ever.”
The news comes in the wake of the fifth film, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” opening to $56 million in the U.S. and another $65 million from 40% of international markets – bringing it to a total $121 million global opening.
Cruise made comments last week indicating that production could start as early as a year from now for a 2017 release.
