Paramount Composes “Martian Chronicles”

Paramount Pictures has picked up the film rights to Ray Bradbury’s classic short story collection “The Martian Chronicles” says The Hollywood Reporter.

Penned in the late 1940s, the three structure story dealt with attempts to settle Mars and the Martians’ efforts to fight the humans off, the colonization of the red planet and a nuclear war that eventually forces most of the humans to return to Earth. In the aftermath of the war, humans become the new Martians.

Paramount picked up the rights after the option by Universal, who previously tried to develop it with Steven Spielberg and John Davis, ran out. Davis remains attached as producer, and no writer is yet onboard.
