Paramount Pictures has optioned the film rights to Tony DiTerlizzi’s upcoming young adult novel “The Search for WondLa” says Deadline.
The story follows Eva Nine, an orphaned girl who has grown up in a hi-tech subterranean home run by a robotic matriarch. Eva ends up on the run when her home comes under attack and she tries to find other humans like her, inspired by a drawing with the word ‘WondLa’ attached.
The first book in a proposed series, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein will produce the film adaptation. DiTerlizzi also penned the popular “The Spiderwick Chronicles” book series.
