Gael Garcia Bernal is set to star in “Hands of Stone”, a biopic about champion lightweight boxer Roberto Duran reports The Wrap.
The Panamanian is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time with a professional record of 119 fights, 103 wins with 70 KOs. He defeated then Olympic champion Sugar Ray Leonard in a fight in 1980 dubbed “The Brawl in Montreal”, but in a rematch later that year Duran gave up into the eighth round of the fight and famously said “No Mas” as he turned his back on Leonard.
Al Pacino is reportedly looking into the role of trainer Ray Arecel in the film. Jonathan Jakubowicz penned the script, is directing and will produce alongside Ben Silverman. No production schedule has yet been locked down.
