There was some interesting reactions to news earlier this year that filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson (“Inherent Vice,” “There Will Be Blood”) was writing and potentially directing the long in the works “Pinocchio” live-action movie that would star Robert Downey Jr. as Gepetto.
Today though, Jeff Sneider of The Wrap has reported that Anderson won’t be helming the project. No reason was given for his passing on the project.
No word yet either on whether his screenplay will be used or if Downey Jr. will get another writer to take a shot at it. Anderson’s most recent screen work has been music videos for Joanna Newsom along with a music documentary.
