The Julius Onah-directed sci-fi thriller “God Particle” suddenly got a major boost in buzz the other week when it was revealed to be the third film in the J.J. Abrams-produced “Cloverfield” franchise at Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures.
The story centers on a group of astronauts who make a shocking discovery and wind up fighting for survival in an altered reality. Actor David Oyelowo is just one of the names in the ensemble and recently The Wrap asked him for more details about it.
Sadly, Abrams’ usual secretive approach is in full force to the point that the actor can’t even say his character’s name. However, he is happy to discuss how he happy he was doing the project:
“Every single day we were on that set we were agog with the inventiveness and innovation, between the technology, the story and the audacity of what we were trying to accomplish. It’s an incredibly exciting and innovative piece of storytelling. It’s incredibly surprising.”
there have been comparisons already to Chris Nolan’s “Interstellar” in which Oyelowo also stars, but the actor was quick to shut it down:
“The only connection I would say is both films involve space and both films involve me. That’s about as much connection I can see between the two.”
Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris O’Dowd, Daniel Bruhl, Ziyi Zhang, Aksel Hennie, and John Ortiz co-star in the film which will likely get a new title before it opens on February 24th 2017.
