Overture Picks Up Sunshine Cleaning

Overture Films has picked up US rights to the $7 million serio-comic drama “Sunshine Cleaning” for $2 million plus substantial backend participation says Reuters.

Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Steve Zahn and Alan Arkin star in the project about a single mother who, in order to raise the tuition to send her young son to private school, starts an unusual business — a biohazard removal/crime scene clean-up service — with her unreliable sister.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to mixed reaction due to a more serious tone than many expected. That muted reaction looks to be the reason behind why the film took so long to be picked up.
