Starz has handed out a two-season renewal to its period fantasy romance drama “Outlander,” granting the series a fifth and sixth season on top of the currently filming fourth.
The series is amongst the most-watched premium TV programs with an average of 5.8 million viewers per episode in season three, based on multiplatform viewing.
The fifth and sixth seasons will run twelve episodes each, down from the thirteen episode runs of the second and third season. As usual they will be based on the Diana Gabaldon novels – specifically the books “The Fiery Cross” and “A Breath of Snow and Ashes”.
The fourth season will premiere in November on Starz.
