Pop TV has saved the “One Day at a Time” revival, picking up the Norman Lear sitcom reboot for a 13-episode fourth season following a lengthy fan campaign to save the show following its cancellation by Netflix.
The series follows a Cuban-American family led by a divorced, former military mom (Justina Machado), who is raising two teenagers – Elena (Isabella Gomez) and Alex (Marcel Ruiz) – with the help of her traditional Cuban mother Lydia (Rita Moreno). Rounding out the familia are good friend/landlord Schneider (Todd Grinnell) and Penelope’s boss Dr. Berkowitz (Stephen Tobolowsky).
The resurrection comes four months after the initial cancellation and marks the first time a broadcast network has rescued a cancelled streaming series.
As a condition of the deal, the new season will also be broadcast on the CBS Television Network following its run on Pop. The new season will debut in 2020.
