“City of God” and “The Constant Gardener” director Fernando Meirelles says that “Nemesis”, his upcoming biopic of shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis for Pathe UK, will begin a ten week shoot in Croatia from October says Screen Daily.
Location scouting is already underway on the $30 million project with casting to be announced shortly. Braulio Mantovani (“Elite Squad,” “City of God”) adapted the script from Peter Evans’ controversial biographical book on the man.
The story deals with Onassis’ contentious relationship with Bobby Kennedy who had investigated his business practices and barred him from trading inside the United States.
Said book goes on to speculate that the power struggle got so heated that Aristotle eventually financed the assassination of Bobby.
All the film’s shooting locations will be doubling for somewhere else – Croatia will stand-in for Greece, Budapest will double for Buenos Aires, and London will pretend to be New York.
