Earlier this week came a report that the upcoming solo “The Flash” movie at Warner Bros. Pictures would not only have Ezra Miller in the role again, but he would be joined by Ray Fisher’s Cyborg character who so far has only been seen in the “Justice League” trailer and a brief video in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
Today though, the film’s director Rick Famuyiwa (“Dope”) took to Twitter to personally respond to the rumored Cyborg appearance. It was a short response – “#SaysWho”. Famuyiwa neither outright confirmed or denied the report, but the response has put doubt in some minds. Even so, ScreenRant is indicating it’s likely true as they say the one who first suggested it was DCEU producer Deborah Snyder.
Cyborg played a key role in the original Flashpoint comic book storyline – a storyline the upcoming The CW TV series adaptation of “The Flash” is set to tackle this season. While the Cyborg character won’t appear in the show, the series is getting a new speedster villain in the form of Savitar.
Speaking with IGN, executive producer Todd Helbing explained how this villain differs from both the previous speedster antagonists of past seasons:
“Savitar is more of a psychological villain in a weird way. I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he’s all about speed. Everything about this guy is different. I can’t go into super detail, but he’s not like Zoom or Reverse Flash. Because the psychological torment, and just this whole idea that I need you to sort of exist but in that existence, I’m going to make your life a living hell. For me personally, it’s the best version of a villain because it’s not only about the powers at that point. That’s why we try to get some of the psychological aspect in with Savitar.”
“The Flash” movie with Ezra Miller is currently unscheduled. “The Flash” TV series returns to The CW on October 13th.
