Olympus Sequel Loses Its Director

Just six weeks before filming was to begin, the upcoming action thriller “London Has Fallen” has lost its director.

Fredrik Bond has dropped out of helming Millennium’s sequel to last year’s surprise hit “Olympus Has Fallen”. A company spokesman claim the departure was amicable and due to creative differences. The company hopes to secure a new director by early next week.

Bond (“Charlie Countryman”) only came onboard the film in August, and the production’s accelerated schedule may have played a big factor in the decision. Bond has come from a commercials and indie feature world, so the jump to not just a big budget action thriller, but one on such a demanding schedule would be daunting to say the least.

‘London’ is slated to begin a four week partial shoot at the end of October with actors Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo. Production will then pick up again in February and run through April, this time with Gerard Butler involved.

Butler won’t be a part of the October filming due to his current commitments to shooting “Geostorm” for Warner Bros. Pictures and Skydance.
