Earlier this week FOX announced “Camelot,” a modern cop procedural series spin on the “King Arthur” legend. Well now NBC is taking it one step further with a gender-bent, contemporary procedural series update of a Victorian literary classic.
The network is teaming with producer Joel Silver and Lionsgate on “Twist,” a new modern take on Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist” which reinvents the young British orphan as a struggling twenty-something American woman who finds a true sense of family in a strange group of talented outcasts who use their unique skills to take down wealthy criminals.
The project has received a script commitment with scribes Chad Damiani and J.P. Lavin, who are also adapting the game “Fruit Ninja” into a movie, writing and executive producing alongside Silver.
