Spike Lee’s remake of the highly acclaimed 2003 Korean cult classic “Oldboy” at Mandate Pictures seems to have hit a stumbling block.
Variety’s Jeff Sneider posted on his Twitter a few hours ago that production on the film has been pushed back to late summer/early fall due to star Josh Brolin’s press commitments for “Men in Black 3”.
Shortly after that he added that Clive Owen is out as the villain in the film. At last report Owen was considering signing on as the film’s main antagonist. Owen was offered the part after Colin Firth passed on the role.
The story follows a man who as kidnapped and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path of revenge.
