Following on from the news yesterday that Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films are partnering on a revival of the “Halloween” franchise comes word today as to whom might direct it.
Bloody Disgusting reports that “Oculus” helmer Mike Flanagan is in talks to write and direct the project. The filmmaker is coming off a very busy period having helmed three horror films all opening this year – last month’s “Hush” on Netflix along with “Ouija 2” and “Before I Wake” in cinemas this Fall.
John Carpenter, who helmed the seminal 1978 slasher, will serve as executive producer and is tipped to be scoring the film in order to deliver a classic sound. The film is said to be targeting an October 2017 release.
