Another weekend, another set of rumors regarding “Star Wars” though this time it’s not the more immediate ‘Episode VII,’ rather it’s the spin-offs.
A new and unconfirmed report over at MakingStarWars.net indicates that Disney and LucasFilm are currently developing one of the spin-off films into a movie about Obi-Wan Kenobi. According to their source:
“I’ve heard from quite a few people now that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works. For the spin-off movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters. But I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan (fans recently voting for him on the official website etc) that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie.”
There’s been numerous rumors about which characters will be the focus of the spin-offs, but none have been confirmed as yet. The site does also talk briefly about some rumors regarding “Star Wars: Episode VII” that emerged the other week, specifically regarding the villains.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD
Their source says those rumors tie back to older rumors and all are a part of the same central idea:
“The recent Adam Driver rumor – Benedict Cumberbatch, Gwendoline Christie, the Count Dooku connection, and now the Driver rumors. These are all based on that central idea of an aristocratic family ‘line’ involving Episode 7’s bad guys. And as I said before, I firmly believe its the line of Dooku. Details and characters might have changed but the idea of an aristocratic villain with a heritage going back to the Clone Wars has been there from pre-production and as far as I know it’s still a major part of the story.”
“Star Wars: Episode VII” is still in the midst of production in the U.K. ahead of a release Christmas 2015.
