The backlash against the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel at Warner Bros. Pictures is starting to get ugly.
Petitions to stop Warners from using Affleck in the role have begun, with one at Change.org reaching 36,000 signatures.
That particular one claims Affleck’s acting skill “is not even close to being believable as Bruce Wayne and he won’t do the role justice”. It also cites Affleck’s portrayal of “Daredevil” as evidence of Affleck’s unsuitability – a recurring claim in many online remarks about the casting this week.
More amusingly, another petition went up on the White House website and personally asks President Obama to “denounce the selection of Ben Affleck”. Said petition has since been pulled as it violated the site’s moderation policy.
