Nutcracker: The Mouse King Bites It

The famed tale “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” is getting remade as an action/adventure feature for New Line reports Heat Vision.

The story centered on a 12-year old girl who, with her brother and sister, receive gifts from their clockmaker-inventor godfather on Christmas Eve, one of which was a Nutcracker doll.

That night, the girl began an adventure that included a war involving a seven-headed Mouse King and his army of mice, curses and themes of ugliness and beauty.

Darren Lemke (“Jack and the Giant Killer,” “Shrek Forever After”) sold the pitch which reimagines the story first penned by E.T.A. Hoffmann in 1816 and later made famous by composer Tchaikovsky’s musical ballet interpretation in 1892.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are producing.
