In what some will deem a deliberate action to generate buzz, HD quality pilots for four of this Fall’s key new series – FOX’s “Minority Report” and “Lucifer,” NBC’s “Blindspot” and “The Carmichael Show” – have popped up on Internet piracy sites weeks before their scheduled TV premieres.
According to anti-piracy analytics firm Excipio (via Variety), all hit at the same time and after ten hours it’s “Lucifer” easily in front with 141,498 torrent clients accessing that pilot from across the globe. “Minority Report” came in second with 111,269 followed by “Blindspot” with 81.887.
The copies are reportedly authentic and bear no visible signs of digital watermarks. The ‘Minority’ pilot is said to not be the final cut with Fox having re-shot an additional scene and that new version hasn’t been externally released as yet.
These follow in the wake of CBS’ “Supergirl” which saw its pilot leak back earlier this Summer – almost six months before its late October premiere.
