Noxon’s “Dietland” To Become A Series

AMC has announced plans to move forward with “Dietland,” a ten episode series based on Sarai Walker’s 2015 novel and sporting acclaimed scribe Marti Noxon as showrunner.

The series, a part coming-of-age story and part revenge fantasy, is set against the backdrop of the beauty industry and explores society’s obsession with weight loss and beauty. Noxon will pen the script and executive produce alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Maria Grasso, Marcy Ross, Jackie Hoyt, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn.

Skydance Television and AMC Studios will co-produce the series which will premiere in 2018. No-one has been cast as yet in the project, but the network reportedly won the project following a heated multiple network bidding war.

“Dietland” just the start of an ambitious scripted development slate announced by the network at the Television Critics Association press tour this weekend.

Also on the way are a darkly humored alien drama starring and produced by Rainn Wilson, the Chris Hardwick-produced anthology series “Underbelly” about fandom, and the Greg Nicotero-produced sci-fi anthology series “Shock Theatre”.
