Original Swedish “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” trilogy star Noomi Rapace is in talks to star as iconic UK soul singer Amy Winehouse in a biopic about the late artist at Subotica Films and City Entertainment.
Winehouse, known for her distinct voice and hit album Back To Black, died in 2011 at the age of 27 following a much publicized battle with drink and drugs. Kirsten Sheridan (“August Rush”) has written the script and is due to direct the feature.
Music rights are currently in negotiations for the in-development project. The film comes on the heels of Asif Kapadia’s “Amy” documentary which proved both a box-office and critical hit.
Rapace is to soon reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw in Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” sequel and will star opposite Christian Bale in Michael Mann’s Enzo Ferrari biopic.
