Nolan’s “Tenet” Secret Teaser Slips Into Cinemas

An early cryptic teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s currently in production next feature “Tenet” has been attached to select copies of “Fast and Furious Presents; Hobbs and Shaw” in cinemas today.

The clip has dropped only in cinemas, without fanfare, and is not officially online at this point even as social media is filling up with bootleg copies of it. Running under a minute, the clip mostly focuses on John David Washington’s character examining a glass panel fractured by a bullet hole.

The words ‘Time has come for a new protagonist… Time has come for a new kind of mission’ are shown along with a quick cut clip with a special ops team, Washington punching someone and then a scene of him breathing with an oxygen mask over his mouth – all set to a bass heavy score from Ludwig Goransson (“Creed,” “Black Panther”).

The final title flips the last two letters of the name. The film has previously been dubbed an action epic set in the world of international espionage but also involving manipulation of the time continuum. Combined with Nolan’s penchant for non-linear storytelling, expect some real craziness.

“Tenet” being shot on a mixture of IMAX and 70mm and stars the likes of Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Caine, Dimple Kapadia and Clemence Poesy. It opens July 17th 2020.
