Actor Noah Segan has joined the cast of Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: Episode VIII” for Disney and LucasFilm says Birth.Movies.Death. Production on the film kicked off in February.
Segan, whose role is being kept under wraps for now, joins newcomers to the series including Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
Segan is something of a good luck charm for Johnson, having appeared in all three of his previous films – “Brick,” “The Brothers Bloom” and “Looper” along with the acclaimed “Breaking Bad” episode “Ozymandias” which Johnson directed. “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is currently slated to hit cinemas on December 15th 2017.
In related news, IGN has some more from filmmaker J.J. Abrams’ Tribeca Film Festival interview this past week during which talk of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” came up.
Abrams revealed that Harrison Ford’s injury actually proved a blessing – the several week shutdown meant Abrams had time to re-write the Rey & Finn relationship, saying originally it was “much more contentious” and it wasn’t coming out right. When Ford returned, they “just reshot from the ground up” with the new script and things finally clicked.
