“The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening and show runner Al Jean have said that despite the major success of “The Simpsons” movie in 2007, there’s no plans for a sequel for a long time yet.
“It took 18 years to get around to doing the movie. We got very frustrated. We thought it would take two years but it ended up taking four. Some day maybe we’ll do another one — but don’t hold your breath” Groening tells Variety.
Much of that delay came from producing both the show and film simultaneously, so once the show wraps then a potential sequel could be under consideration. However neither Groening or Jean have an idea when the series may end.
