Despite Nick Fury being the character to kick it all off, Samuel L. Jackson’s former S.H.I.E.L.D. director won’t be seen much in upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We do know Fury will be returning for 2019’s “Captain Marvel,” with Jackson playing a younger version of himself. Trouble is, according to Jackson in a recent Yahoo UK interview, he has yet to receive any official confirmation of his joining that cast:
“I haven’t signed a contract, haven’t seen a script. I talked to Brie [Larson] the other day, she didn’t say anything. She’s the only person I know that’s actually in the movie.”
Jackson then proceeded to confirm Fury will not appear in either of the upcoming “Avengers” movies, or Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther”:
“I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [Captain America: Civil War], I’m not in Avengers 3 and 4. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet. They wouldn’t let me go to Black Panther-ville, so it’s kinda like how you gonna make a black Marvel movie and not let Nick Fury show up in it?!”
“Captain Marvel” is slated to hit cinemas in 2019.
