Diane Nelson, the head of Warners new DC Entertainment division, gave a telling answer to MTV News this week when asked about any further films involving the single most iconic character of the entire label (aside from arguably Batman).
“We actually don’t have any current plans for Superman. We’ve obviously done a lot of great things behind the property in our history, and it’s a key part of the family, but we don’t have current plans behind Superman” said Nelson.
The word comes not long after recent court rulings begat rumors that the studio would be forced into making a new “Superman” film before a rights reversal takes place in 2013. With the entire property in a legal mess for the next few years, it’s looking like the Man of Steel won’t be making it back to the big screen for a long time.
Meanwhile the only current small screen incarnation of the property, TV’s “Smallville”, kicks off with what many expect to be its final season starting next Friday.
