Net talk for the past week linked Will Smith as at least producing and possibly directing a remake of 1984’s “The Karate Kid” with his son Jayden in the Ralph Macchio role and Jackie Chan playing Mr. Miyagi.
“He’s certainly not. I don’t know where that came from” said the actor’s publicist Heidi Schaeffer to Yahoo this week. She did confirm trade reports that he’ll be playing a Rupert Murdoch-esque media mogul in director Michael Mann’s “Empire” for Sony Pictures.
Smith’s next project however will be “Seven Pounds,” playing a man who falls in love with a woman while trying to commit suicide. He’ll follow that with “Time Share,” where he’ll face off against Nicolas Cage in the comedy about two families who have booked the same vacation condo.
