No Crossovers Planned For “Constantine”

While the movies are being flooded by Marvel product, TV is about to get a whole bunch of DC properties hitting the airwaves.

The CW will have the already airing “Arrow” and its spin-off “The Flash,” Fox has the Batman-prequel “Gotham,” and NBC is getting “Constantine”.

Appearing at the TCA Winter Tour, NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt talked about the tone of the potential “Constantine” series which David S. Goyer and Daniel Cerone will produce:

“I don’t know the DC comic very well, but there is dark, interesting stuff in it, but it’s also got some witty banter. It’s a fun tone, although the supernatural stuff is scary.”

Based on the supernatural detective comic “Hellblazer,” the new series is expected to be closer to the comic than the Keanu Reeves-led 2005 film adaptation “Constantine,” more specifically the storyline since the ‘New 52’ reboot (though that’s not confirmed as yet).

Greenblatt was also asked if “Constantine” would cross-over with either “Arrow” or “Gotham”:

“Cross-network is really hard. It’s hard enough to do it within your network. I think let us see how the pilot goes before we answer that question!”
