Alessandro Nivola (“Jurassic Park III,” “Laurel Canyon”), Elisabeth Shue (“Hollow Man,” “Hamlet 2”) and Abigail Breslin (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “My Sister’s Keeper”) have all joined the cast of the indie drama “Janie Jones” for Unified Pictures and Absurda says The Hollywood Reporter.
David M. Rosenthal (“See This Movie”) penned and will direct the story of a young girl abandoned by her drug-addicted, former-groupie mother (Shue) at a concert. The girl surprises the fading rock singer who’s performing (Nivola) with news that she is his daughter.
In real life there was a notorious pop star and famous madam by the name of Janie Jones in London in the 60’s and 70’s. The Clash produced a song about her in 1977.
Frank Whaley, Brittany Snow, Peter Stormare and Joel David Moore also star. Keith Kjarval and Eric Bassett will produce.
Filming kicks off this week in Iowa.
