Back in June last year came word that Paramount Pictures had begun development of a third movie in the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise, one that would serve as a reboot of the property.
At the time Andrew Dodge (“Bad Words”) was hired to pen the script while Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller will produce via Platinum Dunes. The project was said to be in early development so it seemed likely to be years away.
Yesterday, Form and Fuller appeared on the red carpet for the 2019 Critics Choice Awards and confirmed to Variety that the project is following a timetable which suggests it’s moving faster than expected. Form confirms it aims to begin production at the end of the year. No word on director or cast as yet.
The previous film, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” opened mid-2016 and made a disappointing $246 million from a $135 million budget.
