Veteran British acting legend Bill Nighy and newcomer Chris Geere (“You’re the Worst”) have joined the cast of the live-action Pokemon movie “Detective Pikachu” at Legendary Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
Ryan Reynolds will star as the titular Pikachu in the action adventure film that also features Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe. In the film Smith’s character’s father is kidnapped, forcing the teen to team up with Pikachu and a young journalist (Newton) in order to find him.
Rob Letterman (“Goosebumps”) is directing the project from a script by Nicole Perlman. Filming just began in London and the first set photos are popping up on social media.
